Introducing — Dissolved Gas Analysis Program

Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) provides a snapshot of your transformer’s internal health.  By analyzing the gases dissolved in the insulating oil, technicians can identify early indicators of electrical faults, overheating, insulation breakdown, and other issues.  Catching these problems early helps extend the life of your transformer and prevent costly failures.

After your results are analyzed, High to Low Voltage may recommend one of the following:

• Continue normal monitoring
• Schedule additional testing
• Perform maintenance or service
• Investigate potential faults

What tests do my DGA sample results cover?

Your DGA test results will cover the following: Hydrogen (H₂), Methane (CH₄), Ethane (C₂H₆), Ethylene (C₂H₄), Acetylene (C₂H₂), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Carbon Dioxide (CO₂), TDCG (Total Dissolved Combustible Gas), CO₂ / CO Ratio, Moisture (ppm).

Our team can assist with field service, maintenance planning, or equipment solutions, and additional testing if issues are identified.

Requesting a kit is simple:

1. Visit the High to Low Voltage website, www.hightolowvoltage.com/DGA
2. Click the “Request a Free DGA Kit” button.
3. Complete the information form.
4. Receive the kit, collect the sample, and return it using the prepaid UPS label.

Yes.  High to Low Voltage provides one free DGA sampling kit and test results per transformer per year for transformers not purchased through High to Low Voltage.  If you’re a current or past customer who has purchased equipment from us, you’re eligible for two complimentary DGA sampling kits and test results, available whenever it fits your schedule.

Results will be emailed directly to the contact provided with the sample submission within five business days after the sample is received.

Additional testing, analysis, or field service may be available for an additional cost if further investigation or maintenance is required.

Each kit includes everything needed to collect and return your oil sample:

• Oil syringe with locks and tube
• Scrap oil bottle
• Oil-soaking pad
• Bubble wrap
• Oil sample drawing instructions
• DGA Brochure
• Prepaid UPS return label

Annual DGA testing helps: 

• Detect early electrical or thermal faults
• Prevent unplanned outages and safety incidents
• Plan maintenance and budget for repairs
• Track transformer performance over time

Regular testing allows issues to be identified early so corrective action can be taken before major failures occur.

Once you receive your DGA sampling kit, you will have seven days to collect the sample and return it for processing. 

If I am not comfortable performing the test, can I still receive a free DGA Kit?

Yes. If you are not comfortable pulling the oil sample yourself, High to Low Voltage technicians can come to your site to collect the sample.  Technician time and travel may be billed depending on location and service requirements.

Returning your sample is easy: 

1. Place the oil sample securely back into the original packaging. 
2. Attach the prepaid return label provided in the kit. 
3. Drop the package off at your nearest UPS drop-off location.

Typical turnaround time is within five business days after the sample is received, and results will be emailed directly to the contact provided with the sample submission.
